NEW EDUCATION PRECINCT FOR FOOTSCRAY

Residents in Melbourne’s inner west can have their say on plans for the new Footscray Learning Precinct, which will bring together early childhood, school, university and adult learning facilities.

The Andrews Labor Government has invested $15 million in the first stage of the precinct to make sure local families can access first-class education facilities from early childhood through to university.

Community information sessions get underway this week, with pop up information stands at Footscray, Yarraville and Highpoint shopping centre, and a student forum at Footscray City College. The new Footscray Learning Precinct will link and upgrade local education facilities to increase school capacity and provide better learning opportunities for students.

It will bring together early childhood education providers, Footscray City Primary School, Footscray City College and Victoria University in one precinct that will span three hubs between Farnsworth Avenue, Hyde Street and Nicholson Street.

The precinct is being developed in partnership with the community, local schools, Maribyrnong City Council, Victoria University and international education experts.

Local residents can find out more information and have their say at:
• 3 November – Highpoint shopping centre
• 10 November – Footscray Market
• 11 November – Footscray Market
• 16 November – Yarraville pop-up park
• 19 November – Yarraville Farmers Market
• 9 November – Student forum at Foostscray City College.
